How to choose your motorcycle or scooter lock?

With nearly 100,000 motorcycles, scooters and 50cc vehicles stolen every year, the figures are chilling.

It therefore seems obvious that when you work hard for years to buy the two-wheeler of your dreams, it is not to see it disappear in a few minutes, so you should not underestimate the importance of a motorcycle lockapproved by the SRA and follow a few basic rules.

It is also better to invest in an SRA-approved motorcycle lock, that is, one recognized by your insurance company. Because in the event of theft, your insurer will tend to ask you if you were equipped with an SRA lock, whether it is a disc lock, alarm disc lock, chain with padlock, U-lock... But sometimes this designation alone is not always enough.

So ask your insurance company for a list ofapproved locksto make sure you are covered in the event of theft.

The SRA Class is a certification body for mechanical and electronic motorcycle and car locks in France.

Keep in mind that a motorcycle lockcan also be NF/FFMC certified, which is a certification body for mechanical and electronic locks in France.

U-lock

Motorcycle or scooter chain

You can also opt for a motorcycle chain lock, which when it is also called a combo lock, is the effective and reliable combination of a high-protection chain and a cemented steel padlock. Always remember to check the length of its chain.

Disc lock

Finally, the motorcycle disc lock is easy to put in place, but it is imperative to make sure that the diameter of its shaft is compatible with your two-wheeler. There are also alarm disc locks, offering double mechanical and electronic protection, which alert you in the event of a theft attempt and remind you to remove it before starting.
