How do you choose the right modular helmet?

A good modular helmet is the perfect compromise between the safety of a full-face helmet and the practicality of an open-face helmet. If you want all-year comfort, choose a dual P/J-homologated model, like the Neotec 3, which lets you ride with the chin bar open. Check the quality of the ventilation, the interior comfort (removable/washable lining), and intercom compatibility. And if you cover a lot of miles, go for a lightweight shell that’s well insulatedand stable at high speeds. Finally, the quality of the finish can make all the difference over time: Shoei, for example, is clearly top of the line.

To keep your Neotec 3 performing at its best, remember to clean the interior regularly by hand with lukewarm water and mild soap. Never use harsh chemicals, especially on the visor or shell, as they could damage the coatings. The sun visor can be gently wiped with a microfiber cloth. And as always: store your helmet away from heat, in its bag, and avoid leaving it hanging on your mirror when it’s 30°C out.
